Hermeneutics (Biblical Interpretation): This course will guide Christians to spiritual growth by training them in the relevance of biblical interpretation and the process of truthfully understanding Scripture. Through our study of God’s Word, we will learn to examine the various genres, backgrounds, language concerns, and issues in studying Scripture. The goal for the course is that every participant leave a student of the Bible in order to better understand God, the Gospel, and how we are to live. We will examine a variety of passages to grasp the necessity of hermeneutics and to learn how to truthfully apply Scripture to our lives.

Spiritual Disciplines: Throughout the ages, godly men and women have practiced spiritual disciplines in order to worship God. This course will examine the history of spiritual disciplines (prayer, fasting, solitude, silence, etc.) and devotional literature, with a focus on actively exercising the disciplines. The purpose of the class is to enhance each person’s devotional life and to better understand the use of spiritual disciplines for the glory of God.

Old Testament Survey: An introduction to the entire Old Testament, this course presents the themes, interpretative methods, structure, and background of the Old Testament.  While many Christians shy away from this portion of Scripture, it is crucial for a proper understanding of God, it has authority for our lives, and it points the reader to Jesus Christ.  Participants will not only better understand the Old Testament, but they will better understand how it applies to our walk of faith in Christ Jesus.
